Control your TCL TV from your phone
Which remote app works on a TCL TV depends on its operating system, not on TCL. TCL Google TV and Android TV models work with the Google TV app and Zapmio. TCL Roku TV models need the free Roku app, and TCL Fire TV models need the Fire TV app.
Find out which system your TCL TV runs
- Look at the home screen. Rows of recommendations with a "For you" tab mean Google TV. A purple grid of app tiles means Roku TV. An Amazon menu with a row of apps at the top means Fire TV.
- Check the front or box of the TV: Roku TV and Fire TV models usually carry the logo.
- On Google TV or Android TV: Settings → System → About shows the model and Android TV OS version.

We tested Zapmio on a TCL Smart TV Pro with Google TV on 31 October 2026: pairing with the on-screen code, arrows, OK, back, home, volume and power off all worked. Turning the TV on from the phone needed Energy mode set to Increased (Settings → System → Power & energy).
In our testing the TV forgot paired phones after many re-pairings. If the app stops connecting, pair again with a new code; your settings on the phone are kept.

Does TCL have its own remote app?
TCL's own apps differ by country and model. For Google TV models, the Google TV app or Zapmio is the most reliable choice; for Roku TV models, use the Roku app.
